National Women's Health Week

From May 13 to May 19, we can take part in Women’s Health Week. Although, this should actually be Women’s Health Year because we need to be focusing on the health of our body and mind everyday. This week is to support and a remind that you are never too old or too unhealthy to make changes in your lifestyle. On top of it being a reminder, it is a time for women to make small steps that will eventually lead to big changes. This does includes more than diet and exercise, it is also important to make sure that you are treating your mental health with just as much care. Like we discussed last week on the blog, a huge part of this can be taking time for yourself with something as simple as a bath.

The National Women’s Health Week site has provided us with many great ways to start making steps towards a healthier you this week.

  1. Go get a check up - why not right? Just make sure everything is as it should be, and your body has all the proper tools to keep up with any diet or fitness changes.

  2. Be active! This does not mean you have to take up spinning or crossfit every day, but you can make small steps, like walk to work instead of taking an uber.

  3. Eat Healthy! Duh, we all know that eating healthy is the best way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, weight, and mind. This does not mean you are officially done eating sugar or bread, but it does mean you can be more aware of the bad things you put in, and more willing to eat the good.

  4. Mental Health, imperative. Making sure you are handling any stress in your life, with proper sleep and relaxation.

  5. Then of course, the hardest one of all, stay away from bad behaviors. Easier said than done, but limit drinking, smoking, or any of those others naughty things.

Let us not forget that we are not alone in this! We are surrounded by other strong woman and friends that can help keep us on track and stay motivated. Grab your girls and walk the beach, plan healthy meals together, and just enjoy feeling healthier and stronger together!
